my beloved life

Wednesday, December 31, 2008

hey everyone! wow, I have posted what, 4 times this month?? I cant remember anytime that I have posted that much in a month, must be the new layout, or isit because Im out of Malaysia, so more excuse to update haha! I know I havent been updating this blog a whole lot this year, but ironically, this post, which will be the last this year, is post number TEN!! Ok, that sounds really bad, like, only 10 posts a year!? oh well, at least Im starting to do more now right?

Anyway, since this is post number 10, I shall put 10 things that I want to do this coming 2009 :

1. Serve in God's kingdom!
2. Graduate!! (damn, I better!)
3. Save money for Hillsong.
4. Find a part time job / give tuition (=.=)
5. Start losing weight (let's see how that goes!)
6. Restart tennis career (abit old now, but nevermind).
7. Take advanced scuba diving license.
8. Make sure I keep in touch with all my friends that have now graduated!
9. Update this blog often, maybe target 30 posts?
10. Repair my #!&% router who still refuses to connect!!!!!!! (ARRGGGHHHH!!!!)

So yea, there goes, this is just things that I can think of right now, as you all noticed, I am blogging during working hours again haha! anyway, its Eliza's last day, so damn, friday comes and Ill be on my own doing everything already, scared man.

So, 2008 was a terrible year for everyone, alot of investments were lost, companies whom everyone think was the safest tumbled as well, with more coming suit apparently. With all that, 2009 seems to be a more gloomy year for everyone. BUT, I like what Joseph Prince said the other day when I visited New Creation. He said, despite all the newspaper said about 2009, he believe that 2009, will be a triumphant year for us. I like the example he said to0, that non belief is contagious. If Man A at the coffee shop says its gonna be a bad year to Man B and C, then they will be influenced and it will REALLY end up being a bad year, this is the power of the mouth. Our mouth is a powerful thing, if we keep saying that we will fail, it will be a bad year/thing, we wont make it, chances are, we will NOT make it, just as the Israelites going into the promise land. They saw the giants and the obstacles from afar and a few of them kept saying they were not going to make it, and in the end it influenced everyone and they really ended up not getting the promise land. Except 2 of them, who believed that they will be able to get the promise land despite all that, and they did!

So you see, in the end, If we say that this is going to be a fantastic year, it will be! Hence, say with me everyone, 2009 is going to be a WONDERFUL year!!!

This made me realise, I had a pretty bad year this year. Alot of bad things, and I realise I always say I cant do this, cant do that, that's impossible to accomplish, how can I possibly do that, Im going to fail for sure etc.. Maybe 2009, another thing I can do, is to keep reminding myself to be positive, with a little bit of effort, 2009 will probably be a great year for me!! haha..

Ok, again I know this is a messy post, but not to fret, more post will be coming your way next year. Signing off from here, Happy new year everyone, and may all your dreams come true for 2009!!!

Im not sure how I decided to be awake at 3am in the morning, but suddenly I woke up, turned on the laptop, and started going to youtube to search for Hillsong Conference 2008, all the songs and preachings that are available. Reminds me of the year that I went, it was really an experience like never before, but most impotantly, it brought me ever closer to God.

I want to go for Hillsong 2009, although this year, its only 3 days instead of the usual 5, but I have the sudden feeling that Im going to be there in 2009. Does God want me to be there this year? I don't know how I am going to be there, but I am sure God will have a plan for me, if he wants me there, I will be there, if he wants me back in Malaysia, I will be there as well.. Wherever you want me to be Lord, Ill follow you, always..

These few lines are for everyone reading my blog, brought me to tears tonight in front of the laptop, cant stop replaying the video over and over again, so here goes ;

Turn your eyes upon Jesus,
Look full in His wonderful face,
And the things of earth will grow strangely dim,
In the light of His glory and grace.

God Bless EVERYONE!

Ok, I vowed to myself to keep up with blogging since alot of effort has been put to place to make this new layout. One thing though, ppl, PLZ dun ask me why izit 'another picture to burn', it came with the layout and Im still looking for a nice tagline picture to replace it alright??

Anyway, where was I, first week of singapore? ok, now moving on to the 2nd week of work. 2nd week was quite relaxing, mainly because I went for training and hence, means less work! The other intern and I took turns, I took the morning sessions and she took the afternoon ones. Good arrangement, as morning sessions are mainly introductory finance while afternoon ones are more in depth. Finally, after the training, I get to say, I UNDERSTAND cross rate calculations already!! Basically I knew so much more about finance in half a week's worth of training than a whole sem of Money and Caps in Monash (due to inability of a certain lecturer!). I can safely say Im quite good at all the derivatives in finance, which will be put to use this coming weeks. Oh, and during the training, I actually met this girl that is a Monash graduate in Retail Management. She studied in Caulfield and we started talking bout Caulfield and bitching about Monash and their lecturers and their stupid policies that are completely ridiculous!

Last week, my friends came down to Singapore to visit Singapore aka visit me. Was looking forward to them coming down since I havent seen them for awhile, even though its only been 2 weeks, more on that later. So, they usually do all the tourisy things in the day time and Ill join them during the night. First night, we went to Night Safari. Actually, I felt that we kinda went in late so we didn't get to do much walking around. But it was good fun, especially when you have the 'tour guide' that dont know where he's going all the time =.=. One thing though, the animals were very lively that night, heck, even the lion who most of the time sleeps, was roaring at the tram, although it sounded more like a broken record =P... So we walked abit, went to see the flying squirrel where everyone was just waiting for that ONE squirrel to fly but it refuses to, and also bats. I knew the bats were huge, but when I was there, the huge ones are normally hanging asleep, but that night, it was flying around! so this big one flew and according to Wendy, it flewed on top of my head! I could feel the wind from it too, so I guess it was pretty close. At first, Adam, Wendy and I thought, wah, the girls quite daring ar, walking in front somemore. But our confidence in them quickly dissapeared when Mich was seen holding Mel's hands and they were like, walking slowly in fear of aggravating the bats =.=. They eat fruits la, they don't disturb humans! And of coz, Adam had to crack the joke, that fortunately Mel didn't bring her apple! haha.. So after that, we went home all tired. Then, the funny thing started. Oh, i forgot to mention, Andrew kept mentioning to us ALL NIGHT LONG that he was jealous of Carlos, the seal (=_=") for kissing Mich. Sorry, let me rephrase that, he was jealous of the seal kissing Mich and NOT him! (=___________________________="). I would use the multiple slap emoticon if I knew how to put it in! Anyway, back to the story, so we were just sitting around waiting for our turn to shower. And this Andrew suddenly burst out into a seal sound and actually flapped his hand like a seal! That was damn hilarious man! and just when we thought that was like play of the day already, Wendy accidentally caught him in his 'initimate' moment flapping the towel around his neck (which is brown btw), and burst out laughing (as always =P). Because, she thought it looked alot like the flying squirrel!!! OMG, ROFL, LMAO, you choose! And hence I conclude, never go to watch too many animals in one day, or you'll end up like him =.=.

2nd day I didn't go out with them at night, coz they went to Sentosa for the day and parts of the night. Only met up with them for supper. nothing much there, but Sentosa does sound quite fun guys! should have taken a day's leave to go there. And so of coz, at night again we gather around to talk while Mel went to sleep. And haha, of coz, I demanded to know the full story of the Adam Wendy chronology! (gotta come up with a name for you two, we used to suggest calling you guys Andy, but Im not so sure about that haha!) And boy did they get it from me. Since I was kinda like the last to hear this story, so of coz I demanded a FULL, EXTENDED, UNCENSORED version of the story la! down to the point of what they actually said! guess you guys really sweat when I was 'interrogating' you guys eh? I shall know spill details of the conversation though, since I do respect their privacy.

3rd night was kinda messy in the beginning. They wanted to take the christmas lights tour and then rush for the Singapore flyer but I told them, one it was not possible as the travel time will not allow it, and two, I couldn't take the christmas lights tour as it is for tourists, and NO, Im no longer classified as tourist anymore! so after alot of debate, everyone kinda consented to just going for Singapore Flyer, then christmas lights tour and then go for Clarke Quay later. Oh i forgot to mention, everyone wore very nicely that night, making my formal outfit look normal haha! So I proceeded to go home to get my passport in case later gotta take the tour. Wendy came along as well as she forgot to bring her tourist pass. And so, we were in the apartment room, and she couldn't find her pass!! searched everywhere for it (apparently not everywhere!) but just couldn't find it, so I told her just forget it la, if go on sumore we're gonna be late.

So, we went to the Singapore flyer. As the last time I went it was day time, looking at it at night is a new perspective. And it was. The city was lited up this time, so was the Singapore Flyer. Adam wanted to host his birthday party in one of the capsule, but I don't think its such a good idea. For one, in a party you're gonna have to drink right, what if you need to go to the washroom, and your at the top? die right? haha.. So after Singapore flyer, we wanted to take the shuttle back to the MRT to go to Clarke Quay since it was too late for Christmas Lights tour already. Mana tau, when it was our turn, the shutle was already full and it was the last shuttle back =.=. So, we took a taxi instead to Clarke Quay. Walked around for abit, saw this strange guy talking to himself while I was withdrawing money, and brought them around the place. Ended up wating Hot Stones again, since its the only one that I feel its good for a reasonable price in Clarke Quay. There are other places but they're too expensive, especially on tight budget like us. After that walked abit, saw this bar that was flooded with angmohs, and chilled by the river bay. Took some nice pictures there. Oh before I forget again, I mentioned to Andrew that people wear slippers to Clarke Quay so dont have to wear so nice there, he didn't believe me. And there at the bay, we saw 3 guys wearing slippers, SCORE! The best part was, I also said people wear singlet here, Andrew of coz don't believe that. Guess what, we saw one outside Zirca!!! where is Zirca? for those who don't know, read on..

We stood at the bay for sometime as we couldn't decide what to do next. So we walked around and reached this new place called Zirca, its a club. According to Mich, it used to be MoS. We enquired about the price and decided to walk around first. The girls went to the toilet and after that there's a funny story! while the girls was in the washroom, a girl walked past us guys, wearing a short, tight purple dress. OF coz, Andrew being Andrew, proceeded to gesture slim legs and keep talking about him being a legs man and all. The best part was, when the girls came out and Andrew asked about the girl, Mich said 'she went into guy's toilet wor' (or sumthin like that). Super WTF moment man. Suddenly, all the slim leg gestures look damn off haha! so after walking around, we decided to enter Zirca. Overall, Zirca is quite small, but setting quite interesting la. There's a dance cage where people can go inside and dance. There are also performances periodically on stage. Entrance fee was quite cheap also, $25 for 2 drinks, not too bad. The only thing is, the club was so freaking cold man! almost freezed to death! So, by time we finished and reached home, it was already 3.30am, had to wake up to work sumore. Sat around, after chit chatting, decided, wth la, take half day leave only la! in the end, we all slept at 5 plus, with me grilling the couple with more questions! The next morning (more like few hours later), we went for breakfast together, first time since they came here I took breakfast with them. Haha, I realised one thing, they eat heavier breakfast than me! normally I'll just take 1-2 croissants, eggs, sausages if they have it and that'll be it. But they took that, plus cereal!

So, my friends came to singapore and gone. time was so short, one minute they just arrive at the bus station, next minute they're gone. Although their trip this time was relatively short, but it impacted me alot. When I first came here, I thought, what the heck u know, 3 months away from everyone isn't that bad right? I can live with that, right? but when they came, suddenly my life became cheerful again rather than the dull boring working life. And the moment when they are gone, suddenly alot of emotions came into place. Suddenly I realise, they have become such an important element in my life without me even realising it. Yes ppl, not that I didn't want to walk you guys down to the taxi stand that day, just that it struck me that I already miss life back in Malaysia, being able to just chill, being just a phone call away from 'eh wana go yum cha ar?' or wherever we go. It makes me realise how much i miss my friends already (ok that sounds emo haha!). But yea, I used to crusade last time about how Im able to live alone and no problem with that. But somehow, now, I wish I was not living alone anymore. If im feeling this way after just 2 weeks, what am I gonna do for the next 2 months! So, yes guys, thanks so much for making the Singapore trip happen! miss you guys loads from here yea!

Sorry if this post looks abit messy and long winded, Im actually updating from my workplace, and had to close and open frequently to avoide being caught =P!

That's all for now, phew, quite a long post there! Merry Chirstmas and Happy New Year everyone!! See Ya'll!!

haha, cant have a new layout without a new post right? anyway, where was I the last time? ah, during exams! seems to long ago already. Btw, congrats to all my fellow friends who officially graduated! Wendy, Adam, Melissa, Michelle, WELL DONE! My results, as most of you know, are not good at all, but nothing to elaborate there.

Anyway, Singapore is not too bad now. First day was quite scary though, coz I don't know anyone and everyone seems to be quite busy, hence I was kinda 'left alone' for most of the day. Then, I made my mistake number 1. I thought usually the closing hour is at 5.30pm, so I duly requested permission to leave from my boss, Jean (thought wana be polite!). Of course, it back fired, as the closing hour here is actually 6.30pm! Got a little scolding there. Then, I made mistake number 2 for the day! she asked me to see her in the meeting room to discuss things. When i went in, she sat me down and asked me all sorts of questions about finance, like 'do you know what are funds?" "do you know how does a call/put works" "can you explain what are derivatives?". As you can see, at this stage, I was totally lost already, so I replied to all of them "I dont know!". Of course, that will lead to scolding and asking me to brush up all that. Ah, what a stressful first day!

2nd day was nothing much, basically just reading materials in the research portal. 3rd day was when the real thing starts, the other intern came over and teach me 1 thing, then the senior straght away ask me to find the info, compile and finish it by that day itself! wow, hello, I just learnt it for 10 minutes and you want me to do ALL THAT?? So i just tried my best to do it for her la, in the end, amid a few mistakes, I got it done, much to my relief!phew!4th day again was nothing much. At the end of 4th day, suddenly the other intern, Eliza became sick and said she couldn't make it to work the next day. I was like "shit, now I have to update bond list!".. To explain that, every morning Eliza will format and source information from Bloomberg, calculate and finalise everything in an excel spreadsheet before 10.30am. So it goes, 5th day, my first REAL task. Of course, being a real novice, I ended up finishing everything at 11.30am. Thankfully I didn't get anything scolding as it was my first time. Not bad for the first week. This week should be relatively free as almost everyone is going for training.

That's it for this time. Again, special thanks to Michelle for grinding her HTML skills to help em set up the blog skin, and Wendy for giving comments, thanks so much!!

Oh, b4 I forget, congrats to two of MY friends, you know who you are, CONGRATS!! hahahaha!!
