my beloved life

Monday, December 14, 2009

how long has this been? july til december, about 5 months?? haha, i have effectively driven away any remaining readers that I have here. Oh well, it shall be my own private space here if thats the case..

Anyway, the year 2009 is closing, while 2010 will soon arrive. I have to say, 2009 was quite different from other years. For one, it was the first time I go to Uni without the usual gang, as they have all graduated. It was really awkward knowing that there is hardly anyone that I can call up go have lunch, to go yum cha, or to go Karaoke.. haha, it was good times those eh? MUSA was really different as usually, I can just walk in and see a familiar face. This year, although I made some friends, the feeling was really different. You guys have no idea how many times I walk from class to MUSA to library and home and still see no one I know!

With that being said, I have to also say 2009 is one of the better years that I had in recent years. Results for both semester was really great. I don't have high expectation for it, I will be just happy to pass all my subjects, so the HD and Ds do come as a surprise to me! This is also the first time since first year that I didn't fail any subject in a semester. Thank God for that! I don't think I could take another semester with a fail! Honestly, the moment I saw that I didn't get any N during the 1st sem, I was so happy I literally jumped in my room! haha..

Fast forward to December. Results time! I was quite scared actually, because when I did Financial Issues paper, I couldn't balance one of the questions, then the theory I pretty much bombed it, answered only 2 confidently right, 2 partially sure and 2 not sure out of 9 questions! That's 6/9, not very good ratio that! Plus, Theory was quite scary as the answers can vary based on a single word, and there were so many varying answers for each questions from everyone that no one really knows the right answer. So yea, you get the picture on how uncertain things were. Furthermore, its the last semester which means any PROBLEMS, especially for management paper, means staying back for one more sem or one more year even!

Knowing this, I resorted to play as hard as I can, for as long as I could before the results day, as I know the potentially bad news will be coming! Finally, on the results day, for the first time, I actually dared to open the results page in a Cyber Cafe (which tells you how often I go there these days!). Scroll down..... did I see an N.... wait thats a P.... what about the next one..... haha, you get the picture! In the end, it was all good!

So, as a reward for finally GRADUATING, my dad agreed to get a laptop for me (actually it was kinda like understood, not formally agree, graduate=laptop, no graduate=no laptop). And, the timing couldn't be better, with PC fair coming in that very same week!

So we went to PC Fair to scout for laptop. Actually, it didn't need much scouting, every single booth sells laptops!! seriously, laptops dominated like 80-90% of the place! From netbook to normal laptops to gaming laptops, from Acer to Dell to Toshiba, anything that you can think of, it was there! My dad was looking at the Sony Vaio X, and boy was it thin. It was so thin I was worried that I will snap it in half if I press the keys too hard! and it was really expensive, RM5299, forget it man!! In the end, I bought an Asus laptop recommended by Darren, and am using it right now as I type! This UL series is really something. Extremely long battery life, thin, light, reasonable graphic card, plus it really does not heat up even when playing games! Really worthy buy.

Anyway, as the year comes to an end, I wish everyone (who actually still comes back here!) a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year!
