Haha, i have to admit, knowing that someone is actually doing 'spot checks' on my blog (U know who u are!) makes me feel like I should at least update more often than last year. Again, because I dont want to disappoint anyone (is there anyone??), I shall not make any promises on the frequency of updates.
Anyway, today, being 31 Jan, marks the first month of work. I have to admit, it feels different now than when I worked there as an intern the last time around. For one, the people are not so fun anymore. Last time, we had a group of 6 of us, and we were very vibrant and noisy throughout! even had time to plan events and trips (the event happened, the trip unfortunately didn't). The whole office was so lively where everyone will talk with everyone. Fast forward 3 years, the place is quite different now. Most of the people that were vibrant had either left, or became more serious as they become seniors now. The new recruits are not as fun as when we around as well. Fortunately, my colleague in front of me is quite friendly also, so we talk time and again. It also helps that she is from Monash, studying Accounting and Management as well!! So we always talk about the lecturers and what not haha! anyway, back to the office, so yea, the office now is quite quiet. HOWEVER, with the addition of me, Im on a mission, to make the office a more fun place!! And, I have seen difference in the office now, everyone is talking to each other now, and the boss doesn't mind us being a little noisy (the colleagues always gather at my place to chill haha!). So, mission is on the right track!!
Anyway, there is also another significance of 31 Jan. This is also the day that my dad officially retires from work. The day I joined, my dad started his job in this company, now that I have gotten my first pay cheque, he officially retires. He said he planned all this out, but I think its actually just a major coincidence la!
Anyway, diverting from my personal life, let's talk about the latest hype in town, the Apple Ipad. For those of you who don't know what it is yet, let me show you.
It is actually a laptop. the difference? It's fully touchscreen! This is the latest invention that Apple has came up with, after the overwhelming success story of Iphone. This Ipad allows you to surf, type and view documents as well as the media players.
Ill take a break from typing and let you see some screen shots of Ipad.
Actually, one can safely say that this is an extended version of Iphone, except with more laptop function and no mobile services. This thing is apparently quite light, so people who need to travel will find this handy. However, there are several flaws for this product.
1. Hand/ finger prints. This is a well known problem for Apple products, but of course you can put screen protectors and skins to protect it, but it makes the Ipad bulky.
2. The typing part. For Iphone, it is small, so typing/ tapping the keys is not an issue. For a laptop style, you have to tap the keys like a keyboard, EXCEPT, you cant adjust the screen upwards!! So you probably have to type while looking at the screen from the top, which is kinda weird if you ask me. BUT, ill give it the benefit of the doubt that it may be easy to use in practical (All these problems are hypothetical anyway since no one has seen the product)
3. I question its durability. For Iphone, its not so easy to slip off ur hand, as it fits into your palms. But this Ipad looks kinda slippery to me, so I wonder if it can withstand minimal vibration and fall. Remains to be seen.
Anyway, I am not selling this product k! simply just stating my views.
So, moving back to my life. CNY is coming soon, this is the first year that Ill celebrate CNY while having a job! and being a new recruit, there is a terrible truth. NO LEAVE ALLOWED DURING FIRST THREE MONTHS OF PROBATION!! exact words that. Which means Im not allowed to take extra leave, and only stuck to holiday til tuesday! arggh!!
